How to obtain a Gemini API key to use the "AI YouTube summarizer using my key - YSMK" extension.

To make this extension work smartly, you need an API Key for Google's AI, 'Gemini'. Does "API Key" sound complicated? Don't worry! If you have a Google account, anyone can get one for free in just 1 minute.

Please follow the steps below slowly!

Step 1: Go to Google AI Studio

First, you need to go to the official Google site that issues API key. Please click the link below.

  • After accessing the site, please log in with your Google account.

  • (Note: You can use your personal Google account that you normally use.)

Step 2: Find the "Get API key" button

Are you logged in? Look at the bottom left of the screen and you will see a button labeled 🔑 Get API key. Click this button.

Step 3: Create a Key

The screen will change and you will see a Create API key button. Clicking this button gives you two options:

🚨 [Must Read] Free Usage Policy Change (20 requests/day)

Due to recent changes in Google's policy, the usage limit for all Free Tiers has been significantly reduced. Please check the details below before use!

1. Free usage is limited to "20 requests per day".

  • Unfortunately, the current Gemini free tier only allows 20 queries per day, regardless of the model type.

  • If you use up the 20 requests, it will stop working until the next day.
